Then one evening I happened to pick up a pencil and tried sketching the title freehand on a piece of paper. This time I didn’t look in any books or have any particular model in mind—I was simply drawing on things stored in my memory without trying to force a particular result and with no pretense at historical accuracy, just going with what my mind suggested to my hand—and in one fell swoop I came up with the form for the titling font that ended up being used in the movie.
